Cracking the Cosmetic Code: A Medical Suspense Novel

Jul 12, 2026

Cracking the Cosmetic Code will be published on October 6, 2026, and is now available for preorder on Amazon. Thank you for supporting my journey as both a physician and first-time novelist. I hope you'll enjoy following Bela's story as much as I enjoyed w

Why I Wrote Cracking the Cosmetic Code

One of the questions I was asked most often over the past few years had nothing to do with Botox, lasers, or skincare.

It was, "What are you studying?"

While continuing to see patients during the day, I spent my evenings and weekends completing a Master's degree in Translational Biotechnology with a concentration in Regenerative Medicine. Naturally, my patients wanted to know what I was learning, and more importantly, how those discoveries might one day change cosmetic medicine.

Those conversations happened almost daily.

Patients would ask whether regenerative medicine could reverse aging, whether exosomes really worked, and what the future of cosmetic treatments might look like. Their curiosity made me realize that many people are fascinated by the science behind aesthetics, but they rarely have the opportunity to learn about it in an engaging way.

I could have written a textbook. Instead, I decided to write a novel.

My goal was to create a story that readers would not be able to put down, one that seamlessly combined cosmetic dermatology, skin science, regenerative medicine, and biotechnology while taking readers on a suspense-filled journey. Along the way, I also wanted to share a glimpse into the richness of Eastern Indian culture, whose traditions, values, and sense of family help shape the heart of the story.

Then one question began to take hold in my imagination:

What happens when a scientific discovery becomes so valuable that someone is willing to kill for it?

That question became the inspiration for Cracking the Cosmetic Code.

While the characters and events are fictional, the scientific concepts are grounded in real advances in regenerative medicine, cellular biology, biotechnology, and aesthetic medicine. My hope is that readers will come away not only entertained by a fast-paced medical suspense novel, but also with a deeper appreciation for the extraordinary science that is shaping the future of medicine.

The Story

When Bela Arora's father, a brilliant regenerative scientist, dies under mysterious circumstances in India, her life is forever changed.

Seeking both safety and answers, Bela accepts a prestigious scholarship in Charleston, West Virginia, carrying with her the only legacy her father left behind: encrypted research journals that may hold the key to cellular immortality.

As her own research begins to bridge biotechnology and aesthetics, Bela catches the attention of CremLa, Manhattan's most celebrated luxury skincare company. Behind its flawless branding, celebrity endorsements, and promises of timeless beauty lies a closely guarded technology that feels unsettlingly familiar.

The revolutionary "exosome" platform fueling CremLa's success may be based on the very research Bela's father died trying to protect.

What begins as the opportunity of a lifetime quickly spirals into a world of corporate espionage, hidden surveillance, dangerous alliances, and scientific deception. To uncover the truth, Bela must decipher the final mystery hidden within her father's journals, the secret of the "9th Circle", before powerful forces weaponize her discoveries to rewrite the future of human cellular identity.

Why This Story Matters

Although Cracking the Cosmetic Code is fiction, many of the questions it explores are becoming increasingly relevant.

Advances in regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and cellular therapies are accelerating at an extraordinary pace. The possibility of repairing tissue, reversing aspects of aging, and engineering increasingly sophisticated biological treatments is no longer confined to science fiction.

With these advances come profound ethical questions.

Who owns groundbreaking scientific discoveries?

How do we balance innovation with responsibility?

What happens when commercial interests race ahead of medical ethics?

These are the conversations that inspired this novel.

More Than a Thriller

Readers who enjoy fast-paced suspense will find plenty of twists, corporate intrigue, and high-stakes action and even a little romance. But beneath the suspense is a story about family, sacrifice, ambition, and the responsibility that comes with scientific discovery.

My hope is that readers finish the final chapter not only entertained but also thinking differently about the future of medicine.

Because the greatest breakthroughs are not always the ones we should pursue at any cost.
